Finding Transactions
The row of chips above the ledger is the search. Every chip is one filter; filters combine.
Nothing loads or refreshes — the table narrows as you type.
Using a chip

Click a chip and a small panel opens. Set a value and the chip fills with colour and reads Field : value, with an × to clear it.
When any chip is set, a Clear all button appears at the end of the row.
Only one panel is open at a time. Click elsewhere or press Escape to close it.
The chips
Date

Three quick buttons — This week, This month, This year — and From/To boxes for anything else.
Each quick button covers the whole calendar period containing today. “This week” starts on the day you chose in Preferences → Format → Week Starts On.
You can set just one end: only a From date means “from then onwards”.
A full calendar year shows on the chip as just the year.
Name
Searches descriptions for text anywhere in them, as you type.
It matches both the clean merchant name and your bank’s original text, so “Trader Joe” finds a row whether it displays as “Trader Joe’s” or as POS DEBIT 4829 TRADER JOE S #178.
Type
All, Income, Expense, or Transfer. See Money In Money Out and Transfers.
Account
All, No account, or one of your accounts. “No account” finds transactions not filed anywhere — usually rows you typed in by hand.
Category

All, Uncategorized, or one of your categories, grouped by type.
Uncategorized is the one you will use most. It is the working list for clearing the sidebar badge.
Amount
Three quick buttons — < 50**, **< 100, > $100 — and Min/Max boxes.
Amounts are compared as plain magnitudes, so “over 100" matches a 150 paycheck as well as a $150 bill. Narrow with the Type chip if you only want one direction.
Filters combine
Setting several chips gives you rows matching all of them. Category: Food + Date: This year + Amount: > $100 is “large food purchases this year”.
Two things the filters also control
Export saves what you are looking at. With filters on, the Export button saves only the matching rows, and tells you how many.
Selection is pruned to what is visible. Tick 40 rows, then tighten a filter so only 12 remain visible, and the other 28 are silently deselected. A bulk edit or delete can never touch a row that is off screen.
Arriving with filters already set
Clicking a category in the Cash Flow diagram opens the Transactions page with that year and category filtered. The chips light up so you can see what was applied, and you can adjust them like any other filter.
Filters that no longer apply
If you delete a category or an account that a filter was pointing at, the filter clears itself the next time the page loads rather than showing you an empty table.
Recipes
Everything still uncategorized — Category: Uncategorized.
One merchant’s whole history — Name: part of the merchant’s name.
A specific transaction you half-remember — Amount: Min and Max a few pounds either side, plus a rough Date range.
Everything from one account this year — Account: the account, Date: This year.
Big spending you should look at — Type: Expense, Amount: > 100, Date: This month.
Hand-entered transactions — Account: No account.
Possible duplicates — Name: the merchant, then scan for repeated dates and amounts.
Paging
The table shows 100 rows at a time, with pages at the bottom. Filters and exports work on the full matching set, not just the visible page.
